G’day, I’m Addan.

I started AJS Carpentry because I wanted to build decks and pergolas the way I’d want them built at my own place: solid footings, straight lines, proper fixings and a finish that still looks good years later.

I’ve built everything from small courtyard decks to full verandah replacements and raised entertaining areas. When you book AJS, you deal with me from the first measure-up to the final clean-up. No salespeople and no surprises.

How much does a deck cost?

Every deck is different. Price depends on size, height off the ground, the slope of your block, the decking material and extras like stairs, balustrades or a pergola. Try the instant estimate for a ballpark, then we’ll give you a free, itemised, written quote after an on-site measure-up.

Hardwood, treated pine or composite: which is best?

Hardwood (like Spotted Gum or Merbau) looks beautiful and is very durable, but needs oiling to keep its colour. Composite costs more upfront but needs very little maintenance and won’t splinter. Treated pine is the most budget-friendly. We’ll walk you through the pros and cons for your site.

Do I need council approval?

It depends on the height, size and location of the deck or pergola, and Wagga Wagga City Council’s rules. Many small, low decks don’t need approval, while raised decks and roofed pergolas often do. We’ll let you know at the quote stage and can manage approvals and engineering for you.

How long does a build take?

Most standard decks and pergolas take between a few days and two weeks on site, depending on size, weather and material lead times. We’ll give you a timeframe with your quote.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. AJS Carpentry holds NSW Licence No. 391427C and is fully insured for public liability. We’re happy to provide certificates on request.

What areas do you service?

We’re based in Wagga Wagga and cover the city and surrounding Riverina, including Kooringal, Lake Albert, Bourkelands, Estella, and nearby towns like Junee and Coolamon. Not sure if you’re in range? Just ask.
